Culture & Heritage Patna :
Patna is an ancient city with rich cultural heritage. Its glorious past of Magadh Empire backe 600 BC. It has seen the reign of Samarat Ashok with floushing Budha Dharm . Chandragupt Maurya and Chankaya with Magadh Empire extended up to Kabul Kandhar. Chankya Arthasastra is considered great work related even today. Jain Dharm also got respect and It has been considered once a place for Persian study. It was Sikhs tenth Guru Govind Singh’s Birth place also.
Patna Kalam :
Patna Kalam is a wonderful style of Indian painting which is very popular even in the present times. It was the first school in the world of painting that specifically defined the lifestyle of the common people. This painting has been in existence for almost 200 years and is equally popular today.
Patna Kalam was created by Mughal artists in the 18th century and the main buyers of this artifact were the British who used to buy it from Patna as souvenirs. This painting is special even today and the process of her painting is called “Kaji Seahi”
Old Secretariat :
The Old Secretariat is in Patna, the capital of Bihar, which is the administrative headquarters of the Bihar State Government. This building was completed by the British in the year 1917 in the Indo-Saracenic style. It is one of the largest government buildings in the city. There is a huge bell tower in a beautiful and lush green garden, whose height is about 184 feet.
The Old Secretariat complex has many notable things to do, such as the bronze statue of the first Chief Minister of Bihar, Bihar Kesari Shri Krishna Sinha being the main attraction here. There are many other notable buildings here, where there are offices of officers of different government departments. The Old Secretariat was designed by the famous Sydney architect, Joseph Munnings during the British period and built by Martin Byrne of Calcutta.
Sabhyata Dwar :
There are many places to visit in Patna, and the Sabhyata Dwar has been added to that list. It was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar in the year 2018.
Sabhyata Dwar is in the northern part of Gandhi Maidan has unique architecture that is a sure example of a masterpiece. This monument is made of red and sandstone, on top of it you can see a small stupa. This monument mentions many things from history which must be visited to lookout.
Sabhyata Dwar attracts the attention of many tourists. People gather here, especially in the evening to relax.
Kalidas Rangalaya :
Kalidas Rangalaya is one of Bihar’s well-known theatres and a center for cultural performances in Patna, India.It is in the southeast corner of Gandhi Maidan and is run by the Bihar Art Theater which is the regional centre of International Theatre Institute.
Today the Kalidas Rangalaya consists of a stage, auditorium, Bihar Institute of Dramatics office and a cafeteria, known as ‘Annapurna’. The complex also houses Shakuntala Janta Theater, Priyambada Children’s Theater, Anasuya Art Gallery and Abhyathna Guest House for artists. Classes in dance and music forms, painting, and photography are offered at the complex.
Premchand Rangashala :
The Premchand Rangashala is a theater located in Patna, Bihar, India. It is situated in Rajendra Nagar.
It was set up by Government of Bihar in 1971 and among the biggest theatres in Eastern India. After 1972, no play was staged at the auditorium and in 1974 it was handed over to Central Reserve Police Force. In 1987, the auditorium was freed from CRPF after sustained pressure applied by the cultural activists. Thereafter, plays were staged at regular interval.
In 2011, the theater went a major renovation and suspension. The overall renovation cost was estimated about ₹5.91 crore. By the year 2012, 100 more seats were added as against existing capacity to accommodate 500 and the theater’s structure were improved too.After renovation, the state-of-art theatre was inaugurated in February 2012 by the Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar.
Rabindra Parishad :
The Rabindra Parishad is a multi-purpose cultural centre on Beer Chand Patel Path in Patna, India.
Named after Rabindranath Tagore, it was established in 1948.The building contains a musical school (known as Geet Bhawan), a library with books on and by Tagore, and an auditorium, known as Rabindra Bhavan, which is an important theater in Patna where cultural and theatrical activities takes place. The programme of performances ranges from theatre, to live music, comedy, dance, visual art, spoken word and children’s events.
During 2008 to 2010, the theater went a major renovation and suspension. The overall renovation cost was estimated about ₹1.5 crore. After renovation, the auditorium’s seating capacity was increased from 655to 1,000 and the theater’s structure were improved, too. In February 2011, the state-of-the-art auditorium was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar.
Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir :
Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir, located in Patna, is a renowned institution dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Indian classical dance forms. Established with a vision to uphold the rich tradition of dance in India, Bihar Nritya Kala Mandir offers comprehensive training in various classical dance styles such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Kuchipudi, and Manipuri, among others.
It was established in the year 1963 by Padmashree Pandit Hari Uppal Ji and is registered under Bihar Societies Registration Act 21, 1860.
